The victim of last week’s homicide in the 9100 block of Cinema Drive was 23 year old Juneau resident James T. Newman.

*** Update – Man Arrested for Fatal Shooting - PIO Kalwara 07/07/2023 2:10 p.m. ***
JPD officers have arrested 44 year old Andre P. Lawrence. Lawrence was charged with Murder in the 1st degree, an unclassified felony. He was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center where he is being held without bail.

*** Update – Shooting Suspect Detained - PIO Kalwara 07/07/2023 10:00 a.m. ***
JPD officers and detectives worked through the night, following up on leads and were able to develop information to identify the person suspected of shooting and killing the victim last night. This morning at 8:49, the suspect was contacted at a residence in the 9100 block of Riverwood Drive and has been detained. JPD has no outstanding concern for public safety related to this event.

On 07/06/2023, at about 10:17 p.m., the Juneau Police Department received a call about a person who had been shot in the 9100 block of Cinema Drive. Responding officers located a deceased 23-year-old male with a gunshot wound. JPD is currently on scene and conducting an investigation. The next of kin has been notified.
