INFORMATION RELEASE

Summary:

In May of 2023, the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs (SEACAD) Taskforce received information that 35-year-old Juneau resident Ricardo Church Contreras was involved in distributing narcotics in Juneau.

On 06/22/2023, at about 1:00 p.m., SEACAD officers contacted Contreras and three others in the parking lot of a business in the 100 block of N. Franklin Street. During the investigation, Contreras was found to be in possession of the following;

  • 11.15 grams of fentanyl powder
  • 1.59 grams of cocaine
  • Approximately 1100 fentanyl pills containing the markings M/30
  • 6 grams of heroin
  • 41 grams of methamphetamine
  • A small digital scale
  • Small plastic baggies commonly used for the distribution and sale of narcotics
  • $47,883 in cash

SEACAD officers conducted a search of a room where Contreras was staying at in the area and located the following;

  • 2.48 grams of methamphetamine
  • Approximately 100 fentanyl pills containing the markings M/30
  • $772 cash
  • A money-counting machine

SEACAD also searched a black 2014 Mercedes belonging to Contreras that was in the parking lot and located the following;

  • 10 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms

Contreras was placed under arrest for the charges of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 2nd degree, a class A felony, and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony, and three counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree, a class C felony. Contreras was taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

The seized narcotics have an estimated street value of approximately $32,650.

SEACAD, Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs, is a regional task force comprised of municipal police departments from Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Haines, Skagway, Petersburg, Hoonah, Wrangell, Craig and Yakutat, the Alaska State Troopers, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Postal Inspection Service, and Coast Guard Investigative Service. Together, they work to investigate drug importation and distribution in the Southeast Alaska region.

Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
