INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Three Arrested for Robbery
Date: 2023-03-01
From: Lieutenant Krag Campbell
Case or Incident: #2023-02270065
Summary:

On 02/27/2023, at about 5:37 p.m., a 59-year-old male reported to the Juneau Police Department that three people had just beaten him up in his hotel room, located in the 2200 block of Trout Street.

The complainant reported to police that prior to the assault, he had received a phone call from one of the suspects, 23-year-old Juneau resident, Jasmine Ashley Long, who is known to him. Long told the complainant that she was planning on stopping by his room. About thirty minutes later, the complainant received a knock on his door. When he opened it, Long and two other unknown males entered his room. The complainant said he was punched several times and knocked down. The suspects stole several items from his room, including his wallet, a couple of hundred dollars in cash, credit cards, and the keys to his vehicle. The vehicle, a red Subaru Impreza, was also reported stolen. The complainant sustained minor injuries from the assault.

During the investigation, JPD was able to identify the two males that were reported to be with Long. They were identified as 32-year-old Zachary Alex Pratt, and 31-year-old Kier De Jesus Vergara; both are residents of Juneau.

On 02/28/2023, at about 3:00 a.m., JPD responded to an unrelated report of a trespass in the 1800 block of Shell Simmons Drive. During that incident, Vergara was contacted by police and placed under arrest for this incident.

On 02/28/2023, at about 3:10 a.m., JPD located the complainant's vehicle, being driven on Glacier Ave and Highland Drive. During a traffic stop of the vehicle, the driver was identified as Pratt, and the passenger was Long. Pratt and Long were placed under arrest for this incident.

Zachary Pratt, Jasmine Long, and Kier De Jesus Vergara were taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on the following charges;

  • Burglary in the 1st degree, a class B felony
  • Robbery in the 2nd degree, a class B felony
  • Vehicle theft in the 1st degree, a class C felony
  • Theft in the 2nd degree, a class C felony

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
