On 02/16/2023, at about 1:30 a.m., the Juneau Police Department received a report of a burglary at De harts, located at 11735 Glacier Highway. The complainant said the front door that leads into the liquor side of the store was broken, causing about $720 in damages; $250 in alcohol was reported stolen. Video surveillance from the store recorded two males smashing the glass on the front door with rocks, entering the store, and then leaving with the bottles of alcohol.
During the investigation, two 17-year-old males were identified as suspects. One of the 17-year-old males was contacted by police on 02/16/2023 and placed under arrest. The other 17-year-old male was contacted by police on 02/17/2023 and arrested.
Both 17-year-old males have been lodged at the Johnson Youth Center on the following charges;
- Burglary in the 2nd degree, a class C felony
- Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor
- Theft in the 4th degree, a class B misdemeanor
