Summary:

On 02/11/2023, members of the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs (SEACAD) task force, located a suspicious package being shipped to Juneau in the mail, from Washington state. K9 Buddy alerted on the package, indicating there were possibly drugs inside. A search warrant was obtained for the package and inside was 30 grams of heroin.

On 02/14/2023, SEACAD delivered the package to its intended destination, a post office box at the Mendenhall Post Office. The package was picked up by a 43-year-old male, who then delivered it to 43-year-old Juneau resident Buck Robert Mills, in the 5000 block of Glacier Highway.

Upon the package being opened, SEACAD contacted Mills and placed him under arrest on the following charges:

  • Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 2nd degree, a class A felony offense
  • Violation of Conditions of Release, as a class B misdemeanor

The seized narcotics have an estimated street value of approximately $9,000.

SEACAD, Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs, is a regional task force comprised of municipal police departments from Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Haines, Skagway, Petersburg, Hoonah, Wrangel, Craig and Yakutat, the Alaska State Troopers, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Postal Inspection Service, and Coast Guard Investigative Service. Together, they work to investigate drug importation and distribution in the Southeast Alaska region.
