INFORMATION RELEASE

From: Lieutenant Krag Campbell
Case or Incident: #2022-09230041
On 9/23/2022 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Juneau Police Department received a report from Thunder Mountain High School staff that a male was banging on windows at the school, trying to get inside. Staff also reported that the male had previously been chasing kids around inside the gym, prior to being escorted out of the school by staff.
JPD responded to TMHS and located the male subject, 29-year-old Juneau resident Monte Skon Nix, standing outside the school. Nix was immediately detained by JPD. TMHS staff reported that when Nix had been inside the school, he had scared several students and threatened to assault staff. There were no reported damages to the school and nobody was injured. During this incident, TMHS initiated a stay put notification.
Nix was placed under arrest for two counts of assault. The assault charges against Nix are due to placing others in fear of imminent physical injury. Nix was taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and is beingĀ held on $2,000 bail.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in this incident and there is no immediate connection to the 09/21/2022 homicide investigation on Brotherhood Bridge trail.
All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues.
