On 08/26/2022, at about 10:20 a.m., the Juneau Police Department received a report of a gunshot being heard in the area of Trout Street and Jordan Ave. Responding officers heard additional gunshots once they arrived on scene. Shortly afterwards, officers contacted two males in the area, 29-year-old Carl Stepetin and 38-year-old Malik Karam-Oko.
During the investigation, officers learned that Stepetin and Karam-Oko had been consuming alcohol and had fired a gun multiple times in the air. A pistol was located at the scene, as well as spent bullet casings. No property damage was located and there were no reported injuries.
Stepetin and Karam-Oko were both placed under arrest for misconduct involving weapons, a class A misdemeanor. They were taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional center and held on $5,000 bail.
