On 07/09/2022, at about 12:16 a.m., the Juneau Police Department received a call about a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in the inbound lane of Egan Drive and Glacier Highway, at the McNugget Intersection. JPD and CCFR responded to the scene and confirmed that the pedestrian, at 59-year-old female Juneau resident, was deceased.
The inbound lane of Egan Drive was closed down while JPD officers conducted the crash investigation.
Preliminary investigation showed that an 18-year-old female was driving a silver 2007 Honda Element and was travelling inbound on Egan Drive, at the McNugget Intersection. The 59-year-old female was crossing the inbound lane of Egan Drive, at the intersection, when she was struck by the Honda Element. The driver of the Honda Element immediately stopped at the scene, as well as others nearby, to assist.
This report is still under investigation and the Juneau Police Department is trying to locate next of kin to make notifications.

The 59-year-old female is identified as Ruth Carol Baz. Next of kin has been notified of her death.
