INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Fatality Motor Vehicle Collision
Date: 2022-07-06
From: Lieutenant Krag Campbell
Case or Incident: #220705-010
Summary:

On July 5th, at about 5:44 p.m., the Juneau Police Department received a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision between a motorcycle and a tour bus, in the outbound lane of Egan Drive and Whittier Street; witnesses reported the driver of the motorcycle was deceased. JPD and CCFR responded to the scene.

Upon arrival by JPD and CCFR, the driver of the motorcycle, 48-year-old Juneau resident Cramer Marquez Sexton, was pronounced deceased. Next of kin was notified of the death.

JPD closed down the outbound lanes of Egan drive, between Willoughby Ave and Whittier Street while officers conducted the crash investigation. Preliminary investigation showed that a Glacier Express bus was being operated by a 66-year-old male Juneau resident and contained multiple passengers. The bus was travelling inbound on Egan Drive and was making a left turn onto Whittier Street. The motorcycle had a single occupant and was travelling outbound in the left hand lane of Egan Drive. Witnesses reported that the motorcycle was travelling at a high rate of speed and struck the side of the bus as it was turning onto Whittier Street. The occupants of the bus were uninjured during the crash.

The body of Cramer Sexton will be flown to the medical examiner's office in Anchorage for an Autopsy.

This case is still under investigation.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
