INFORMATION RELEASE

Over the next couple of months, the Juneau Police Department will once again be participating in a National campaign called The Cure Starts Now, to raise money for pediatric brain cancer research. The Cure Starts Now focuses on the Homerun Cure to all cancers by concentrating their research funding efforts on one of the deadliest forms of cancer, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG); which is a rare type of brain cancer that usually affects children.

JPD's involvement in the campaign will go from August 30th, 2021 and end on January 3rd, 2022. During that time, male staff members will be allowed to grow beards and female staff members will be allowed to color hair or nails purple, to show their support for the campaign. This campaign is voluntary to staff and anyone choosing to participate is required to register, as well as donate money to the campaign.

JPD would like to invite all of our community to join with us in this campaign. Grow your beards, color your hair or nails purple, and help raise money for cancer research. The Cure Starts Now Campaign is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who has funded over $10,000,000 in cancer research. All proceeds will go to The Cure Starts Now. All donations are tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations. EIN: 26-026913.
