Summary:
The Citizen’s Police Academy is a program designed to educate the Citizens of Juneau by providing an inside view of police work in an 8-week series of classes. Topics range from the recruitment process to special unit functions. Some of the classes will include live demonstrations. A Certificate of Achievement will be given at the end of the 8-week course.
 
The academy consists of a series of classes and demonstrations held once a week for three (3) hours, on Thursday evening(s). Classes will be taught by members of the Juneau Police Department.
 
The goal of the academy is to foster relationships between the police department and our community, resulting in a clearer understanding of what the community can expect from the police department.
 
How to Apply:
 
In order to apply, you must fill out the Citizen's Police Academy Application. Email or return it to the police department by September 17, 2021. Classes begin on Thursday, October 14, 2021.
 
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
 
Space is limited to 16 students. If someone applies, but we have exceeded capacity, we will hold another session at a later date.
