INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Motor Vehicle Collision with Injuries
Date: 2021-04-23
From: Lieutenant Krag Campbell
Case or Incident: #210422-007
Summary:

On 04/22/2021, at about 5:00 pm, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a two vehicle collision in the area of 9951 Stephen Richards Memorial Drive. The initial caller reported the collision was between a truck and a motorcycle.

JPD and CCFR responded to the area to assist, but prior to their arrival, it was reported that the motorcycle driver was loaded into another vehicle and left the area for the Bartlett Regional Hospital.

The initial investigation in the crash showed that a 2005 Chevrolet pickup, being driven by a 39-year-old female, pulled onto the roadway where a Yamaha dirt bike was being driven by a 24-year-old male. The two vehicles collided with each other and the 24-year-old male sustained injuries from the crash. The female driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured.

The motorcycle driver sustained serious injuries from the crash, but they are not considered life threatening and he is believed to be in stable condition at this time.

At this time, no arrests or citations have been made in this case and it is currently under active investigation by JPD Detectives.

JPD is aware that there were some social media posts online regarding this incident that stated the driver of the truck had driven away after the incident, suggesting it was a hit and run. This is not entirely accurate. The driver did move their vehicle a short distance away after the crash, but remained on scene for police.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
