Case or Incident: #210303-005
On 03/03/2021, at about 7:24 PM, the Juneau Police Department received several calls regarding gunshots being fired in the area of Bresee Street. Officers responded to the area to see if they could determine where the shots were coming from. Shortly afterwards, another caller reported they had just left a house in the 3100 block of Bresee Street, in which there was a disturbance and 24-year-old Matthew Costello was waiving a gun around. After the caller left the house, they reported hearing several gunshots.
Officers responded to the residence on Bresee Street and located several intoxicated people inside, including Costello. Officers learned that there had previously been an argument between the people inside the residence and then Costello allegedly shot several rounds from a pistol while outside the residence. A pistol, identified as belonging to Costello, was located inside the residence, where Costello also resides. Some empty shell casings were located on the porch outside. There were no reported injuries during this incident.
Officers placed Costello under arrest for two counts of misconduct involving weapons. He was transported to the jail and held on $5,000 bail.
