The New Year is almost here. The Juneau Police Department will be increasing DUI enforcement over New Years Eve. If you choose to drink, do so responsibly and please don't drink and drive. Juneau Crime Line is offering double DUI rewards during this time. If you see a drunk driver, call JPD to report it. If an arrest is made, your name can be put in to receive a DUI reward of up to $400.
If you plan on setting of fireworks, please review the City and Borough's guidelines on fireworks use (https://juneau.org/newsroom-item/guidelines-for-fireworks-use). Between 12/31/20 - 01/01/21, fireworks are not allowed from 1AM-10AM. Using fireworks during this time is a violation of the City's disturbing the peace ordinance and could result in a fine of $300; It's also very rude to your neighbors. On top of that, when people use fireworks outside the allowable hours, it diverts police resources to respond to noise complaints, rather than things like DUI patrols.
The Juneau Police Department would like to wish everyone a happy New Year. Wear your mask, maintain social responsibilities and be safe.
