INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Stabbing
Date: 2020-09-14
From: Lieutenant Krag Campbell
Case or Incident: #200913-002
Summary:

On 09/13/20, at about 6:54 AM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a stabbing, located in the parking lot of the 3000 block of Vintage Blvd. Initial reports indicated that a 26-year-old male was stabbed in the head and wrist by a 32-year-old female. JPD and CCFR responded to the area to assist.

JPD located both the 26-year-old male victim and the 32-year-old female suspect in the parking lot. The male victim had sustained a large laceration on the upper left portion of his head and right wrist. Both injuries were considered serious. Responding medical units provided treatment to the victim and then transported him to the hospital.

The initial investigation showed that the stabbing took place within a vehicle in the 3000 block of Vintage Blvd and the victim and suspect were known to each other. The occupants of the vehicle, which included the victim and suspect, as well as two other females and another male, had gone to the business located in that area. There were different statements about the reason for going there, as some people reported they needed to shop, and other statements indicated it was because someone owed another person money. While the 26-year-old male victim and 32-year-old female suspect were in the vehicle, they got into an argument, which ultimately led to the 32-year-old female stabbing the 26-year-old male with a knife. After being stabbed, the 26-year-old male exited the vehicle and nearby witnesses called 911. The knife believed to have been used in the stabbing was located in the vehicle.

The 32-year-old female was identified as Ida Johana Sheakley. Sheakley was placed under arrest for two counts of assault in the 1st degree and taken to the jail. The 26-year-old male sustained serious injuries, but is currently in stable condition. This case is still under investigation.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues.
