INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Felony Arrest - Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance

Summary:

On 7/8/2020, members of the Juneau Police Department, Alaska State Troopers, United States Postal Inspection Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Coast Guard Investigative Service, operating under the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs (SEACAD) taskforce, conducted a controlled delivery of a package containing 202 pills of suspected Oxycontin.

The controlled delivery took place in the 4000 block of Delta Drive with subsequent follow-up in the 9000 block of Glacier Hwy.  The operation resulted in the arrest of two people.  Tanner Smith, a 36 year old Arizona resident, was arrested and lodged at Lemon Creek Correctional Center on three counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance (MICS) 2nd Degree, one count of MICS 3rd Degree, one count of Misconduct Involving Weapons 3rd Degree, and one count of Tampering With Evidence.  Megan Pierson, a 27 year old Arizona resident, was arrested and lodged at Lemon Creek Correctional Center on a Federal Probation warrant.

During the course of the delivery and subsequent search warrants, approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine, 60 grams of heroin, 215 oxycodone pills, two firearms, and $7000 cash were seized.
