Subject: Child Struck By Vehicle

Summary:

On 11/28/19, at about 1:30 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a report that a 2-year-old child had been struck by a a vehicle, in the driveway of a residence, located in the 19000 block of Randall Road. The father of the child, a 50-year-old Juneau resident, was driving a 2000 white Lexis and was backing up the vehicle.  The father did not see that the 2-year-old child had walked next to the vehicle, and while backing up, ran over the child.

The child sustained a serious and potentially life threatening head injury. CCFR transported the child to the Bartlett Regional Hospital. Due to the seriousness of the injuries, the child was sent to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

At the time of this media release, the child is in serious, but stable condition. The child is currently in the Intensive Care Unit of the Haborview Medical Center.

This case is still under investigation.
