INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Motor Vehicle Crash at Egan Outbound and Fred Meyer
Date: 2019-10-31
From: Lieutenant Krag Campbell
Case or Incident: #191030-009
Summary:

On 10/30/19, at 5:02 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a two vehicle, T-bone style collision, located in the outbound lane of Egan Drive, at the Fred Meyer intersection.

JPD and CCFR responded to the scene to assist. Following the collision, Egan Drive was closed down to allow medical units and officers to safely work.

The investigation showed that a blue 2000 Nissan Maxima, being driven by 46-year old Juneau resident, Marlene Bonhome, had been driving inbound on Egan Drive and was attempting to make a left turn at the Fred Meyer intersection. The other vehicle involved in the collision, a green 1998 Subaru Legacy, was being driven by a 33-year old female Juneau resident and was traveling outbound on Egan Drive. The Nissan Maxima made a left turn in front of the Subaru, causing the motor vehicle collision.

The Nissan and the Subaru sustained totaling damages and were towed from the scene. Both drivers, as well as a passenger in the Subaru were transported to the hospital for medical evaluation due to reported injuries. The injuries are not considered serious at this time.

Portions of Egan Drive were closed down for almost two hours while officers investigated the crash and removed the vehicles from the area.

Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the cause of this crash. A citation is pending to the driver of the Nissan for causing the crash.
