Case or Incident: #190508-005
On May 8th, 2019 at around 2:20pm, a man reported his 22’ Hewes Craft aluminum boat on an EZ Loader trailer had been stolen. The boat and trailer were parked on the street near his residence in the 4200 block of Glacier Highway. At the time of the theft, the boat had a Yamaha outboard motor and Yamaha kicker on it.
That night at around 7:10pm the victim located his boat in the 4700 block of Glacier Highway and notified JPD. Officers responded and assisted the victim in recovering his boat. At the time of recovery, both motors were missing. Multiple other items were missing from the boat including fishing gear, GPS and steering station equipment. The boat sustained substantial damage in areas where the equipment was removed.
Officers located boats and motors at a nearby property and began an investigation to determine if they were related to the theft. As the investigation progressed, it was discovered that this was not an isolated theft. The main Yamaha motor was located as well as other stolen property related to other theft cases. The items recovered include multiple boat motors, boat parts, tools and guns.
The investigation is ongoing. The public is encouraged to report information about this situation directly to JPD or anonymously to Crimeline at JuneauCrimeLine.com.
