This morning  39 year old Fenton L. Jacobs was charged with one count of Murder in the 1st degree, two counts of Murder in the 2nd degree, Harassment in the 1st degree and Resisting or Interfering with Arrest. Jacobs is lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and is being held on $500,000 bail.


A 39 year old Juneau man is in custody after a fatal stabbing that occurred at around 12:25am today.

On May 2nd at 12:25am, a 9-1-1 call was received reporting a fist fight involving multiple people on South Franklin Street near Front Street. JPD officers were immediately dispatched. About a minute later, a second 9-1-1 call was received reporting a man had been stabbed in the altercation. Capital City Fire/Rescue was dispatched to the area.

The first JPD officer arrived on scene and contacted a male victim on the ground bleeding from his torso.  Within minutes, multiple officers were on scene investigating the incident. A person of interest connected to the stabbing was contacted and detained. That person is currently in custody.

The stabbing victim, 47 year old William Scott Campbell, was transported by ambulance to BRH. It was determined that he had sustained injuries including three stab wounds. He was deemed to be in critical condition. Due to the life-threatening injuries, Campbell was medevaced to Seattle. He succumbed to his injuries and died on the flight while en route to Seattle this morning.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.  Updates will be released when available.
