From: Erann Kalwara - JPD PIO
Case or Incident: #
Summary:

JPD is pleased to announce the promotion of Matt Dubois to the rank of Police Sergeant.

A ceremony was held today to celebrate Sgt. Dubois’ accomplishment. Matt has lived in Juneau since he was 5 years old. At an early age, he showed an interest in law enforcement and by the time he was 15, he was certain that he wanted to be a police officer.

Matt served in the Alaska Army National Guard from 2000-2006.  He served in the U.S. supporting Operation Noble Eagle and later in Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Prior to becoming a police officer, Matt joined the Juneau Citizen's Patrol and the Juneau Crime Line board where he served in both organizations for seven years.

In June of 2007, Matt fulfilled his childhood dream and was hired as an officer with the Juneau Police Department.  During his first year on the job, Matt received a Lifesaving medal for his efforts in performing CPR on a man. In 2009, Matt became a Field Training Officer and joined the JPD SWAT team. In 2012, Matt was recognized as the JPD Officer of the Year and was also awarded the Medal of Valor.

In 2015, Matt achieved one of his career goals when he was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit.  During Matt’s time in CIU, he became part of the Alaska Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force and later the FBI's ICAC Task Force. Matt has presented internet safety training throughout the community to children and staff in our schools, to partner agencies, and to parents.

Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Matt Dubois on his promotion.
