On 08/11/18, at 2:07 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a 911 call regarding a person with a gunshot wound to the head, at a business in the 1700 block of Crest Street.
JPD and CCFR responded to the business and located a male with what appeared to be a life threatening gunshot wound to the head.
The male was transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The deceased has been identified as 63 year old Juneau resident, Bruce Alan Owens. Next of kin has been notified.
The investigation showed that Mr. Owens and a friend had gone to the business for recreational shooting. There was no indication of a disturbance, or any other problems, prior to the shooting. There were witnesses to the shooting and it was recorded on the store's video surveillance system. Mr. Owens died from a non-accidental gunshot wound to the head; foul play is not suspected in the cause of death.
The body of Mr. Owens will be flown to the Alaska Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.
