On 05/22/18, at 1215 hours, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle collision with a pedestrian, located in the area of Glacier Ave and West 9th Street. The initial report indicated the pedestrian was injured, so both JPD and CCFR responded to assist.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 78 year old Rachel White and she was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla. The pedestrian was identified as a 62 year old male Juneau resident.
The pedestrian was transported to BRH for a medical evaluation, due to injuries sustained in the collision. The pedestrian received non-life threating injuries, but is believed to have a broken leg.
The investigation showed that White was driving outbound on Glacier Ave, approaching West 9th Street, when her vehicle struck the pedestrian who was crossing Glacier Ave in the crosswalk. White was given a citation for failure to exercise due care to avoid colliding with a pedestrian.
