On May 13th, 2018, at about 4:25 PM, the Juneau Police Department received multiple calls of a single motor vehicle accident on Thane Rd. near the “S” curves of the first avalanche zone as you drive southbound. Capital City Fire/Rescue along with officer from the Juneau Police Department responded.
The investigation revealed that a 29 year old male and a 27 year old female, were the occupants of a 2009 Subaru Legacy. The Subaru was traveling southbound on Thane Rd and as the road curved to the left, the Subaru continued straight and drove off the roadway. The Subaru traveled down a 15 foot embankment where it struck a power pole, knocking it over.
Both occupants were transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. They were last listed in stable condition.
The Subaru was considered totaled.
The investigation is ongoing.
