At 5:20pm on May 14, 2018, multiple 9-1-1 calls were received reporting a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on Glacier Highway near the Brotherhood Bridge.
Capital City Fire/Rescue, Juneau Police officers and Alaska State Troopers responded to the collision. The roadway near Vintage Boulevard was completely closed to through-traffic for approximately an hour and 15 minutes.
Bystanders started CPR and CCF/R continued those efforts when they arrived on scene. The pedestrian, a 23 year old Juneau woman, succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.
The vehicle involved was a blue 1991 Chevy truck operated by a 60 year old Haines man.
At the time of this release, officers are still at the scene. One lane of the roadway has been opened to through-traffic. The case is still under investigation.
