On 03/31/2018, at 4:30 AM, the Juneau Police Department received a 911 call from a residence in the 400 block of Harris Street. The caller reported a female at the residence had been shot.
JPD officers arrived at the residence and located a 27 year old female Juneau resident, who had a gunshot wound to her right thigh.
CCFR arrived and transported the female to the hospital. The female sustained serious injuries to her leg, but is currently in stable condition.
The investigation so far tends to show that the discharge of the firearm was unintentional, and self inflicted. Several firearms were located inside the residence and seized by police. The specific firearm used the shooting is unknown.
The use of alcohol or controlled substances appear to be a contributing factor in this incident.
This case is still under investigation.
