INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Theft report
Date: 2018-03-16
From: Lieutenant Krag Campbell
Case or Incident: #180315-001
Summary:

On 03/15/2018, at 12:01 AM, a 47 year old male reported two unknown men were trying to steal his snow plow, which was located outside his residence, in the 1700 block of Anka Street. The caller reported the two men were digging the snow around the snow plow and were trying to move it. The two men left the area in a Ford pickup, without taking the plow.

Responding officers located the Ford pickup in the area, which was pulling a trailer at the time. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the occupants were identified as 33 year old Stephen Haseltine and 27 year old Gabriel Falzarano.

Haseltine and Falzarano admitted to being on the property where the snow plow was located, but claimed to have permission to borrow it. Officers determined that the trailer attached to the vehicle was not owned by Haseltine or Falzarano. The trailer was registered to a local business.

Officers contacted the responsible for the business, who said nobody had permission to use the trailer. It was reported that the trailer was last seen earlier in the day, parked at the business, located in the 5400 block of Jenkins Drive.

The original caller identified Haseltine and Falzarano as the two men who he had seen on his property, attempting to steal the snow plow. The caller said Haseltine and Falzarano were able to move the snow plow about 8-10 feet, using some sort of dolly. The caller also reported the snow plow was new and is valued at about $7,500.

Haseltine and Falzarano were placed under arrest for theft 2nd degree, a class C felony, attempted theft 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor, and criminal trespass 1st degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Haseltine and Falzarano were taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center where they were held without bail.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
