INFORMATION RELEASE

On 03/07/2018, at 10:02 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a report regarding the burglary of a storage shed, located in the 1600 block of Renninger Street.

The caller reported her husband caught a male suspect going through their storage shed and taking items from it. The male suspect took off running with a skate board that was stolen from the storage unit and got into a vehicle. The caller's husband and brother in-law chased after the suspect and confronted him in the vehicle before the suspect could drive away. They recovered the skate board and the suspect drove away from the area. The license plate of the suspect's vehicle was provided to police.

Officers located the suspect's vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex, located in the 9400 block of Glacier Highway. A person matching the description of the suspects was located next to the vehicle and he was determined to be the owner of the vehicle. He was identified as 24 year old James Lysons.

Officers learned that Lysons had a $5,000 warrant from the Sitka Police Department, related to the charges of forgery 2nd degree and theft 2nd degree.

Officers placed Lysons under arrest for the warrant. Upon searching Lysons, officers located several pieces of mail stuffed inside his shirt. The mail belonged to several residents between the areas of 9300 Glacier Highway and 9400 Glacier Highway.

In addition to the warrant, Lysons was also placed under arrest for the burglary and theft at the storage shed.

Lysons was taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center where he was held on the warrant and the charges of burglary 2nd degree, a class C felony and theft 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor. Lysons was held without bail.
