The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 54 year old Juneau resident Leah Michelle Ridgway. Ridgway died from her injuries after being medivaced to Seattle. Next of kin has been notified.
Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in this case.

On 12/29/17, at about 1607 hours, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a single vehicle crash near 22 mile on Glacier Hwy. It was reported that the vehicle was in the ditch and that the driver was unresponsive.
Juneau Forest Service Officers, the Juneau Police Department and Capital City Fire / Rescue responded. The vehicle was found to be heavily damaged and resting upside down in the ditch.
An unresponsive female was located on the ground near the crash, and is believed to have been ejected from the vehicle. The female is believed to be the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.
The female was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
Juneau Police Department Detectives responded to conduct an investigation based upon the severity of the crash and apparent serious condition of the driver.
The female was identified as a 54-year-old Juneau resident. The female?s Next Of Kin was contacted and notified the crash and the female?s condition. The female is currently in critical condition and was medevac?d to Harborview Medical Center.
