On August 21, 2017 at about 09:03am, a man called the Juneau Police Department to report he had found what appeared to be a human body inside his covered, outdoor hot tub on Muir Street. Officers responded to the area and removed the cover, verifying that the person inside was deceased. A death investigation has begun.
At this time it is unknown how long the body had been in the water and positive identification has not been made. The deceased subject will be transported to the State Medical Examiner?s Office for assistance in determining identity of the person and the cause of their death.
Preliminary autopsy results are expected later this week. The investigation is continuing.
