On Friday August 11th, 2017 at about 5:54 am, the Juneau Police Department received a report that the valley Subway restaurant was burglarized overnight. A staff member arrived in the morning and discovered that the restaurant was in disarray. A short time later when JPD officers and restaurant management arrived, it was discovered that a safe valued at $1,500 and about $1,000 in cash had been stolen.

As JPD officers conducted their investigation, a potential suspect and involved vehicle were identified and officers began looking for the suspect and his get-a-way car. The vehicle was located and two subjects were contacted at about 7:09am. One subject was identified by the first officer on scene as Dakota Gallant, the burglary suspect. Gallant fled the area on foot before the arrival of the officer?s backup. The other subject, a female, was identified and released at the scene. The vehicle was processed for evidence and the investigation continued. It was determined that both Gallant, and his female companion, Jessica Bell, were involved in the burglary of Subway.

On Saturday August 12th at about 11:55am, JPD received a tip that the suspects were in the woods near the Auke Bay round-a-bout. Three officers responded and were able to safely detain Jessica Bell who was ultimately arrested for Burglary in the 2nd degree and Theft in the 2nd degree. Gallant fled the area on foot and is still at large. Anyone with information regarding Dakota Gallant?s whereabouts should call JPD at 586-0600 or report an anonymous tip online at JuneauCrimeline.com.

Dakota Gallant is a 27 year old white male with short brown hair, beard, hazel eyes, about 6? tall with a medium build. He has many tattoos including several visible on his neck. A photograph of Gallant is published on the JPD Facebook page.

The investigation continues.
