Juneau Police Department staffing in Patrol, Community Services and Dispatch were increased to manage holiday events including and leading up to the fireworks and parades over the 4th of July Holiday. The holiday weekend was busy with 852 reported incidents from Friday morning until 5am Wednesday morning.
Several police officers worked as part of a grant to target impaired drivers. The public initiated 16 calls regarding possible impaired drivers and two of those calls resulted in arrests and the drivers being safely removed from the roadway. Officers conducted 62 traffic stops during this time period. Other incidents of interest include reports of:
? 9 motor vehicle accidents
? 38 Suspicious activity calls
? 29 Welfare checks needed
? 14 Intoxicated person calls
? 14 Fights in progress
? 31 Disturbances
? 23 Domestic disputes or assault
? 15 Trespassing issues
? 17 Noise complaints
? 37 Fireworks complaints
? 36 Traffic complaints & Traffic hazards
Officers made the following arrests:
? 4 DWI
? 2 Out of State Warrants
? 6 Local Warrants
? 6 Felony Charges
? 14 Misdemeanor Charges
