On 07/02/2017, at approximately 4:30 AM, the Juneau Police Department was notified that the intrusion alarm at the Glacier Visitor Center had been activated. JPD officers responded to the Glacier Visitor Center and discovered an exterior, ground level, window that had been broken. Officers also located a car parked outside of the Glacier Visitor Center that is commonly associated with 51 year old Juneau resident Mack A. Parker.
Officers heard the sounds of someone inside the structure and attempted to set up a security perimeter around the building. Officers saw a male flee away from the Glacier Visitor Center along a trail and into the woods. Officers recognized the male as Mack Parker. Officers attempted to locate Parker in the woods and were not successful.
JPD detectives responded to the Glacier Visitor Center to process the area for evidence. Security footage from the Glacier Visitor Center appears to show Parker inside the building taking property. Multiple items were reported as missing, but the overall value of the stolen items has not yet been determined.
On 07/03/2017, at approximately 12:00 PM, Parker was located inside a residence in the 9200 block of James Blvd. Parker was arrested for Burglary in the Second Degree. Parker was ultimately transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on No Bail.
The investigation is continuing.
