Summary:

On 06/14/2017, at approximately 11:22 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a burglary to a business at Alaska Dames located at 1900 Crest Street. Officers arrived at the business and spoke with an employee, who reported the security alarm had gone off prior to the police being notified.

The investigation revealed that access to the business had been gained by forcing open a door. Damage to the door was estimated at approximately $1,000. An undisclosed amount of cash had been stolen from the store. The burglary was captured on a video surveillance system and the officer immediately recognized the burglar as 32 year old Juneau resident Jared P. Fortin.

On 06/15/2017, at approximately 12:19 AM, a Juneau police officer located Fortin sitting in the back of a vehicle located near the 9200 block of Glacier Highway. Property stolen from Alaska Dames was recovered from Fortin and returned to the business.

Jared P. Fortin was arrested for Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Theft in the 3rd Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree. Fortin was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
