Date: 2017-03-08
From: Erann Kalwara - JPD PIO
Case or Incident: #170307-010
Summary:

On March 7th at about 12:05pm, JPD received a call from a citizen reporting a suspicious person walking out of a residence in the 9900 block of Stephen Richards Memorial Drive.

The caller said that the resident was not home and he did not recognize the male subject. The subject was seen walking out of the residence carrying backpacks and a duffle bag. The male had a hood pulled up and something covering his mouth.

An officer contacted the subject in the vicinity of the trailer park within minutes and was able to identify the subject. Another officer responded to the residence and observed that the rear door had been forced open and there were shoe prints in the area.

The door frame and lock were broken in several areas creating about $1,000 of damage. The owner responded to the residence and advised the damage to the door was new. Property within the residence was strewn about and several items were determined to be missing including a pool stick, a shot gun, a rifle and two hand guns.

As the investigation progressed, it was determined that the suspect was 36 year old Juneau resident, Brandon L. Bowhay. Bowhay was arrested for Burglary in the First Degree, Theft in the Second Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. The investigation continues.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues.
