Case or Incident: #170224-009
On 02/24/2017, at approximately 7:42 PM, the Juneau Police Department received multiple 911 calls regarding a male attempting to jump off the Juneau-Douglas Bridge. One caller stated the male was hanging by two arms on the opposite side of the railing and a passerby was talking with the male trying to get him not to jump.
Two JPD officers contacted the male, who was still on the opposite side of the railing. The officers were able to grab ahold of the male, who was identified as a 25 year old Juneau resident. After several minutes of talking, the male agreed to come back onto the safe side of the railing. The officers then pulled the male over the railing to safety.
The male was then taken to the Bartlett Regional Hospital.
