Summary:

***Update***** 021517

JPD officers conducted a neighborhood canvas and spoke with multiple people in the area. Search warrants were served on one residence and one vehicle. The investigation indicates that an argument took place on Forget-Me-Not Street when one person fired several rounds from a handgun. Shell casings from the handgun were recovered, but JPD is not releasing information about the caliber of the firearm or how many shots were fired.

No one was hurt during the shooting and it appears as though no property was damaged. The area around Forget-Me-Not was opened to the public at approximately 12:00 PM.

JPD officers are still actively investigating this case and are trying to determine exactly what happened and who was involved. Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Juneau Police Department or Juneau Crime Line immediately.

Illegal drugs appear to be a contributing factor to this case.
