Subject: Motor Vehicle Collision - North Douglas

Summary:

On 02/05/2017, at about 9 AM, a concerned citizen called the Juneau Police Department about a missing family member. The 48 year old male was last seen at home around 9 PM the night before. They were unable to locate him and his phone was not working.

At about 9:40 AM, hikers near the end of North Douglas reporting hearing a male yelling for help. The 48 year old male was located inside his vehicle, which was about 100 feet off the road and into the trees. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The male was pinned in the vehicle and unable to get out. He said he was very cold and had been there all night.

CCFR responded and extricated the male from the car. He was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Medical issues are believed to have contributed to the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
