From: Sgt. Brian Dallas
Case or Incident: #161230-015
Summary:

On December 30, 2016, at about 4:08 PM, the Juneau Police Department (JPD) received a report of motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Main Street, near the Downtown Transit Center. Capital City Fire/Rescue along with JPD officers responded to the scene.

The investigation revealed a 53 year old male was driving southbound on Main Street and was slowing to turn into the Sealaska parking lot. A 56 year old female pedestrian was crossing the roadway outside of the crosswalk and stood near a cement divider. The male driver made the turn into the parking lot and did not see the pedestrian, hitting her and knocking her to the ground. The driver immediately stopped and rendered aid until Capital City Fire/Rescue arrived.

The pedestrian was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of her injuries. She is currently listed in stable condition.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this case.

The investigation is ongoing.
