On 12/16/2016, at approximately 2:05 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a report from the Kodiak Police Department that they were on the phone with a suicidal male with a firearm. The suicidal male was reported as being in Juneau at the Driftwood Lodge.
JPD officers cordoned off the area and negotiators spoke with the male. Capital City buses were rerouted form the area. Schools in the area were also notified.
At approximately 3:45 PM, the male exited the room and was taken into custody after being Tasered. The male was then taken to the Bartlett Regional Hospital.
The area around the Driftwood Lodge has been opened and buses are resuming their normal routes.
Thank you to the public for staying away from the area until this situation was resolved.
