On 10/15/2016, at approximately 10:46 PM, JPD officers contacted Katherine Milton and Rafael Flores at Fred Meyer following tips from the public. Both Milton and Flores met with JPD detectives and were later released. JPD no longer needs public help in locating Milton and Flores. At this point, all of the people in the residence at the time of the shooting have been identified and interviewed.

The investigation revealed that a gun was fired from the second level of the residence. The bullet traveled through the floor and into the first level of the residence striking a 19 year old female in the top of her head. The 19 year old female was rushed to the Bartlett Regional Hospital by ambulance and later medivaced to Anchorage.

The investigation is active and officers are still at the residence. Anyone with information concerning this incident is advised to contact the Juneau Police Department at (907) 586-0600.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Juneau Police Department continues the investigation into the shooting of a young woman that occurred today in Juneau. It appears that the situation is an isolated incident and the parties involved in the shooting are known to each other. JPD Detectives are seeking contact information for two Juneau residents, 51 year old Rafael Flores and 46 year old Katherine Milton. Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is encouraged to call JPD at 907-586-0600.

On 10/14/2016, at approximately 11:58 AM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a female bleeding from the head at a townhouse located in the 3600 block of Amalga Street. JPD officers and medics with Capital City Fire Rescue responded.

The female was identified as a 19 year old Juneau resident. It was determined that she had been shot in the head, but she was still alive. The female was taken via ambulance to the Bartlett Regional Hospital and later medivaced to Anchorage.

It is unclear how many people were in the townhouse at the time of the shooting. The townhouse and surrounding area has been secured by police and JPD Detectives are actively working the scene.

This is a developing case and more information will be released when it becomes available.
