The deceased male has been identified as 55 year old Juneau resident Gary D. Brummitt. Next of kin has been notified.
There were no signs of foul play present. Brummitt's body will be sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage for an autopsy.
The investigation is continuing.

On 10/13/2016, at approximately 11:19 AM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a partially submerged body located in a pond on the eastern side of the Mendenhall Loop Road and Egan Drive intersection. The caller stated they saw the body while walking on the bike path. The caller didn?t have a cell phone and walked to Fred Meyer and called the police.
Juneau Police Officers and medics with Capital City Fire Rescue responded to the intersection and discovered a deceased male partially submerged in the pond. A wheelchair was found near the male
Investigators are currently on scene. The bike path at Mendenhall Loop Road and Egan Drive is shut down to pedestrians. The public is advised to stay away from the bike path area to avoid excessive congestion. The roadway is still open to vehicular traffic.
