INFORMATION RELEASE

On 09/27/2016, at approximately 1:14 AM, an employee of the Best Western located at 9300 Glacier Highway reported being robbed. The victim reported that a male had been hanging out in the hotel lobby, but he wasn?t a guest. The victim told the male that he needed to leave, at which point the male walked behind the counter and stole the money out of the cash drawer. The victim retreated into a back office and called the police.

JPD officers arrived and searched the area. The male suspect was not located. The male is described as being between 17-25 years old, possibly Alaska Native, approximately 6?1? tall, with a thin build, and medium length dark hair. The suspect was wearing a long sleeve green ?Carhart? t-shirt and blue jeans. A photo of the suspect is available on the JPD Facebook page.

The investigation revealed that no one was hurt during this incident and no weapons were used or displayed. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.

JPD is looking for Juneau resident Keith Joseph Nelson Jr. as a person of interest in relation to this case. Nelson Jr. is described as a 20 year old Alaska Native male, 6?1? tall, 175 pounds, with black hair. There is an outstanding $20,000 Juneau AST warrant for Nelson Jr.?s arrest for Failure to Comply with Conditions of Probation, original charge two counts of Burglary in the Second Degree. Anyone with knowledge of Nelson Jr.?s whereabouts is encouraged to contact JPD immediately at 586-0600.
