On 08/28/2016, at approximately 11:00 AM, a hiker located human remains in the Dredge Lake area. JPD investigators responded to the area and collected the remains, as well as a cell phone and miscellaneous personal property items.
The located property has been identified as belonging to Juneau resident Jeffrey ?Scott? Walkenford. Walkenford?s family has been notified of the discovery. Walkenford was reported missing in the Dredge Lake area over six years ago on 05/15/2010. Extensive searches were conducted at the time, but Walkenford was not located.
The human remains have not been positively identified as being Walkenford. Positive identification is estimated to take
approximately 6 months.
