INFORMATION RELEASE

On 09/11/2016, at approximately 11:13 AM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of an unresponsive male with a facial injury. The male was located in a trailhead parking lot off of University Drive. A United Stated Forest Service Officer, JPD officers, and Capital City Fire Rescue personnel responded. Medical responders determined that the male was deceased.
The male was identified as 39 year old Juneau resident Benjamin Parson. Next of kin has been notified. The cause of death appears to be from a gunshot and a firearm was recovered from close proximity to Parson?s body. Parson?s body was transported to the Medical Examiner?s Office in Anchorage for an autopsy.
The investigation is continuing.
