On 08/21/2016, at about 1130 hours, the Juneau Police Department received a report of an intrusion alarm at a business in the 5100 block of Glacier Highway. Officers responded and found the business closed and locked. While searching the outside of the building, officers saw a person inside the locked business. Officers saw the male remove a screen from a side window and begin exiting the building. The male was identified as 35 year old Dirk Daugherty. Daugherty was detained without further incident.
The subsequent investigation showed Daugherty entered the locked business from an adjacent business that was open to the public. Daugherty had also stolen an item of clothing valued at approximately $90. Daugherty was wearing the clothing when detained by officers.
Dirk Daugherty was arrested for Burglary in the 2nd Degree, a class C Felony, and Theft the the 4th Degree, a class B Misdemeanor.
Daugherty was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
