*****

On August 10th, 2016 JPD received three separate reports of burglaries that occurred within a short time period of each other. A suspect has been arrested in connection with all three incidents and a second person of interest has been identified.

A female reported a burglary in progress at about 4:10pm in the 10000 block of Glacier Highway. The suspect had entered the residence and was in the kitchen when confronted by the caller. The suspect fled from the residence prior to officer?s arrival. Officers determined that the front door had been broken in order to gain access to the residence.

At about 4:43pm a male reported a burglary in progress at his residence in the 12000 block of Glacier Highway. The caller was viewing a remote web camera and observed subjects he did not recognize in his residence. Descriptors of the suspects and their vehicle were relayed to responding officers. Other calls for service continued to come in, including a report of a vehicle in the ditch in the general area of this burglary.

Multiple officers responded to the area and it was established that the suspects were no longer in the residence. It appeared that the suspects had gained entry through a window and it was determined that a pillow case was missing from the residence. As the officers continued their investigation, a male was seen getting out of the vehicle in the nearby ditch. The male was contacted and identified as 45 year old Thomas Schauwecker.

A third burglary was reported at about 5:40pm in the 17000 block of Andreanoff Road. The male caller reported that entry had been made into his residence sometime since 4pm and a bear hide was stolen from his wall. An officer responded and was advised by the man that multiple animal hides valued at about $4,000 had been stolen. The front door to the residence had been damaged and repair costs were estimated at about $3,000.

Thomas Schauwecker was arrested on numerous charges in relation to these three burglaries. The charges are as follows: 3 counts of Burglary in the 1st Degree, 1 count of Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree, one count of Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, one count of Theft in the 2nd Degree and one count of Theft in the 4th degree. He was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center where he was held without bail.

Kelly Crowder Jr., a 29 year old Juneau man has been identified as a person of interest in these cases. Crowder also has an outstanding Juneau AST felony warrant charging failure to comply with probation on original charges of Theft 2nd Degree, Misconduct Involving Controlled Substance 4th Degree and Petition to Revoke Probation.
