On July 22nd and 23rd, 2016, the Juneau Police Department will be hosting regional training for tactical officers, commonly referred to as SWAT. Participants include officers from the State, local, and federal agencies. Approximately 20 officers are attending the training.
During the weekend, officers will be conducting training exercises around Juneau. Training exercises will take place at various schools and a private residence. During these planned exercises, officers will be dress in tactical police clothing and armed with long guns.
The Juneau Police Department thanks the Juneau School District and the University of Alaska Southeast for providing access to locations for the training exercises.
