INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: MVC Injury
Date: 2016-06-21
From: Sergeant Weske
Case or Incident: #160621-006
Summary:

On 6/21/16 at about 1007 hours, the Juneau Police Department (JPD) received multiple 911 calls about a three vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of Egan Dr and Vanderbilt Hill Rd.

JPD Officers and Capital City Fire and Rescue (CCFR) responded to the scene. During the investigation, parts of Egan Dr and Vanderbilt Hill Rd were shut down. Traffic continued to flow through the area but was significantly delayed for about 50 minutes.

The investigation revealed that a 2011 Dodge pickup, driven by 30 year old Stuart Jack, was traveling Egan Dr inbound near Vanderbilt Hill Rd. The vehicle was being operated in a negligent manner and struck a 2001 Dodge pickup, driven by a 56 year old male, which was also traveling Egan Dr inbound. The collision caused the 2001 Dodge pickup to collide with a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek, driven by a 68 year old male, which was stopped in the left turn lane on Egan Dr inbound, headed to Vanderbilt Hill Rd.

Both Dodge pickups sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. The Subaru sustained moderate damage and was able to be driven away from the scene.

A passenger in the 2011 Dodge Truck was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries as was the driver of the 2001 Dodge pickup.

Stuart Jack was cited for Negligent Driving, an infraction.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues.
