Subject: Assault of a Police Officer

Summary:

On 03/10/2016, at approximately 1:40 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a report that 29 year old Juneau resident Timothy James was causing a disturbance at a facility located in the 3400 block of Glacier Highway. The report indicated that James had ?pulled? at the complainant and was threatening to kill people.

At approximately 1:50 PM, three JPD officers arrived and attempted to contact James. When contacted, James produced a can of bear spray and sprayed the officers. Two of the JPD officers were sprayed in the face. The third JPD officer received a residual exposure. James then fled from the area on foot.

The three officers sprayed with bear spray were treated on scene by ambulance personnel. All three officers later returned to duty.

Two other JPD officers responded to the area. At approximately 2:09 PM, the two officers contacted James on the shores of Twin Lakes, across from the area of Hospital Drive.

James was placed under arrest for three counts of Assault on a Police Officer. James was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on $3,000 bail.
